Describe the process of mitosis

Mitosis is the a form of cell division in which two genetically identical daughter cells are formed. It occurs to grow new tissue e.g. such as skin Before the cell divides it goes through a growth phase where the DNA is replicated The first stage of mitosis is prophase - this is where the nuclear membrane disapears. (In late prophase the centrioles have moved to opposite poles of the cell)The second stage is metaphase - this is where the chromosomes line up at the equator of the cell and centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell . The spindle fibres attach to chromosome at the centromere The third stage is anaphase - The chromosome are pulled are apart towards opposite poles of the cell. The last stage is Telophase and cytokensis - chromosomes are at opposite poles of the cell and nuclear envelope reforms. The cytoplasm also divides.
