How should I structure my essay for the best results?

The structure of your essay is as essential to your grade as your argument, without the perfect structure you cannot effectively provide a succinct and convincing argument to the examiner. Firstly, I would argue that the introduction should be written after you have finished the body of your essay, as many students have a tendency to begin with a targeted introduction outlining their aims for the essay which they then forget and deviate from. The introduction should communicate your argument in a basic yet articulate way without being too long. Likewise, your conclusion should follow the same basic structure and should solidify your argument. The conclusion should not include any new information but should instead reiterate to the examiner the argument which your have driven home in each of your paragraphs.
The body of your essay should be strong and perfectly organised , each paragraph should fluidly align with the next and reiterate your argument to the examiner. In your essay plan you should pay particular attention to how you can connect your individual points on the text to the larger central argument. I suggest that you figure this out before writing the essay as it will speed things up and allow you time to re-read your essay a final time before submission. I understand that in the exam hall creating a plan may seem like a time-consuming exercise, but spending five minutes on this could get your the grade you want and deserve.
