3/5 of a number is 162, work out the number

Using algebra
3/5 * x = 162
Multiply by 53x = 162 * 53x = 810
Divide by 3x = 270
OR
Using fractions they do know well
If I said, half of a number is 10, what would that number be? Double 10, which is 20.Therefore, if I said 1/5 of a number is 10, what would that number be? A number divided by 5 is 10? So original number is 10 times 5 because that is the opposite of dividing by 5. This is 50.If I said 3/5 of a number is 162, what would the original number be? The original number is divided by 5 and multiplied by 3, so what is the opposite of that? Multiply by 5 and divide by 3. This is 270.
