Outline the three types of long term memory and describe how they differ form one another.

Episodic- the memory of biographical events in your life. e.g. memory of your summer holiday. Semantic- the memory of general knowledge about the world. e.g. knowledge of the solar system. Procedural- the memory of actions/ skills. e.g. walking or riding a bike.Episodic and semantic memory are explicit types of memory and require conscious effort to retrieve the memories.Procedural memory is different to procedural and episodic memory because it is an implicit type of memory instead of explicit, which means that it is automatic and you do not require conscious effort do retrieve procedural memories, for instance the memory of how to walk.
