Describe The Ways In Which The Nazis Attempted To Rebuild The Economy After 1933

One of the key ways that the Nazis attempted to rebuild the economy after 1933 was through reducing unemployment. Hitler aimed to achieve full employment by 1939. One of the ways that unemployment was reduced in Germany was through the policy of rearmament. In 1933 the government spent 3.5 billion marks on the production of weaponry such as ships, tanks and aircrafts. By 1939 the Nazis had spent 26 billion marks on the process. The huge spend on production created millions of jobs for German workers. Both in the actual production of weaponry and in the preparation and extraction of the raw materials that the production required. In addition to this the Nazis also introduced a National Labour Service (RAD) in July 1934. At first participation in the RAD was voluntary but the 1935 Reichs Labour Service Law made 6 months of service in the organisation mandatory nationwide for males aged 18-25. Service in the organisation was considered employment, and upon completion of the six months the men would be required to serve for two years in one of the branches of the German armed forces.
