Outline two cultural factors that may affect ethnic differences in educational achievement. (a level)

One cultural factor which may affect ethnic differences in educational achievement is the language pupils speak. For some students English may not be their first language and therefore they may struggle when learning in school as the curriculum is taught in English. They may also struggle to understand their work or tasks set.
Another factor which may affect ethnic differences in educational achievement is the ethnocentric curriculum. As it stands the curriculum remains dominated by British culture which benefits only white British students. This can be detrimental for other students who may be of a different religion as they may have to miss school for celebrations. Where as Christmas and Easter are British school holidays.
