Rober Cormier uses language to create suspense in Heroes through the first person narrative of the main character. For example 'at that moment, I knew that I was really annonymous, that I wasn't Francis Joseph Cassavant anymore but a tennant in Frenchtown'. Here Cormier uses 'annonymous' along with describing Francis as not being Francis 'anymore' to create a sense of uncertainty surrounding his identity. This creates suspense as it shows that Francis has an ulterior motive for coming back since he does not immediately correct people about who he is. It also makes the reader wonder why Francis wishes to be annonymous which in turn creates a sense of foreboding and suspense.
