What is the best method to learn vocab words, and how do I stick to this method?

As students, we have all received advice on the best way to learn vocabulary words, and I think that we can all agree that it is not creating a plan for learning the words, but rather sticking to the plan that is incredibly difficult. It is also good to bear in mind that everybody has a slightly different approach to learning, and different methods will work for different people. That being said, I have found the following tips to be the most helpful for me, and hopefully these tips will help you create a sustainable 'schedule' for learning Vocab words: I recommend that you set a 'word of the day' for yourself, for every day until a week before your exam. I usually recommend that you don't try and 'cram' any new vocabulary for the week before you are going to be tested. Every day, do three things with this word: First of all, read over the potential meanings and idiosyncratic uses of this word. Secondly, find a Latin sentence or phrase that uses this word, preferably from a section of your set text. Translate this sentence and make sure you understand how your word is being used in the context. Thirdly, compose a Latin sentence yourself, using your 'word of the day'. I recommend that if you have to learn multiple words that sound or appear very similar, (e.g. aestas and aetas), that you set these words on the same day, so that you can make sure you know the distinction between the words. Most importantly, I recommend that you use me as somebody who can hold you accountable for learning your words.
