How do you start creating a portfolio?

Usually the course you are applying for could send you a theme or a task they want you to look at. In other cases ,depending on what you want to study, whether it be an art foundation, fashion foundation or architecture, I suggest you start by dividing your portfolio into three main areas. From then you flesh out those specific areas making sure you include a range of techniques as well as school work and extracurricular work. Extracurricular work could include life drawing that was done outside of school or drawings that were done in art galleries or museums. This would show your interest in art beyond school.
