Describe the Little Rock Nine event and explain whether or not it was successful.

in 1957, 9 African American students were enrolled in a former segregated school in Arkansas. The 9 students were not well received as they were faced with a mob of angry white American students who protested their enrolment, as they were against integration and the civil rights movement. One notable Black student was Elizabeth Eckford who made national news resisting the mob. This was a significant event and was quite successful because it used media as a tool to gain sympathisers. It was also the first time the government took action and sent in the 101st Airborne division to see the 9 students through the school year, making it the turning event of civil rights movement.
