One factor which affects minority influence is consistency. In order for a minority to draw the attention of the majority to a specific issue, they must promote their view in the same way for a prolonged period of time in order to catch peoples' attention and incite them to take the issue seriously. A second factor which affects minority influence is flexibility. So as not to appear dogmatic, the minority must be willing to compromise at least to some extent. This increases the likelihood that the majority will be receptive to change. Thirdly, commitment also affects the extent to which minority influence is effective. The minority view is much more likely to be given serious consideration by the majority if the minority can demonstrate how strongly they feel by committing to the cause and show themselves as prepared to make sacrifices for it.
