Describe the role of a ribosome in the production of a polypeptide.

Firstly, the mRNA will bind to the ribosome (ribosomal small subunit). Codons on mRNA bind to complementary anticodons on tRNA (which carry amino acids).Formation of peptide bonds between amino acids is catalysed in the ribosome. Ribosome moves along the mRNA codons (translation). The goal is to focus on the ribosome and not elaborate too much on the process of translation. The idea about two or more codons is also necessary as the question mentions 'production of a polypeptide'.
