Solve the following simulateous equations: 3x+y=11 and 2x+y=8

Minus 2x+y=8 from 3x+y=11 so that the y's cancel out (y-y=0).
Then we get the equation 3x-2x=11-8.So we get x=3.We can substitute this value back into one the orginal equations: y=11-3(3)=2 - so y=2.We can check these values are correct by substituting them into the other equation: 2(3)+2=8.Hence our solutions are correct.

Solve these simultaneous equations algebraically: y=2x^2 - 7x + 4 & y=4x-1

Simplify: 2x +6y +2y - x

Factorise the quadratic equation: x^2 + 5x + 6 = 0 and hence find the two solutions to the equation.

Simplify 3/(x+1) + (3x-9)/2 = 1, to get a quadratic equation in the format ax^2 + bx + c = 0.
