What is 64^(2/3)?

When the index of a number is a fraction such as 2/3, first take the cubic root, then square the number. For example:
641/3= cube root of 64(641/3)2 = 642/3
642/3 =( 641/3)2 = (4)2 = 16

Find the highest common factor (HCF) of 12 and 18.

A curve (a) has equation, y = x^2 + 3x + 1. A line (b) has equation, y = 2x + 3. Show that the line and the curve intersect at 2 distinct points and find the points of intersection. Do not use a graphical method.
