Understanding Shakespeare is difficult, how do I get around the complex language in order to analyse the text?

At first it can be overwhelming to look at Shakespeare, I personally believe the best way to understand Shakespeare is to see it performed. This is not saying that all you need to do is watch a Shakespearean movie in order to understand it, but with the text alongside it this may make it more easy to understand as it was meant to be performed. Shakespeare uses a lot of metaphors and symbolism. These often include; the supernatural, light and dark, the theme of death, criticism of the church etc. No fear Shakespeare is a good site to use in order to grasp a better understanding of the play. Often reading the texts aloud can help you understand what is trying to be conveyed. Once you start to grasp the way he writes it gets easier to create your own interpretation of it, which is what examiners love to see.
