A strength of the behavioural approach is that it is one of the most objective approaches in psychology. This approach primarily centres around the use of lab studies in which observable behaviour is used to infer the underlying cognitive processes at the heart of said behaviour. This lends to the internal validity of the approach due to its objective nature.A weakness however is also related to the use of lab studies, as they do not always represent real life scenarios. Lab studies often make no attempt to recreate real life situations and therefore can be seen as having very low external validity, this decreases the generalisability of any results and thus means it may be hard to use the results to enact positive change in an actual situation.
