Outline three ways in which factors within school may shape gender differences in subject choice.

Learning resources may shape choice of subject. Stereotypes with regards to Science and Maths for example; these are mainly represented by men whereas History and English is represented by women. (resources could include books etc)Peer pressure, reflecting stereotypical gender identities. Individuals may be ostracised if they do not conform with these; for example, girls picking childcare and boys choosing electrics. Gender of the teacher may influence subject choice. The child may identify with the teacher and choose the subject based on the assumption that it is 'normal' to choose that particular subject.
It is important to identify the reason and expand as to why it may be the case, the partial outline is what gives the third mark.
