How should I structure an introduction and conclusion in an english essay?

Your introduction needs to briefly summarise the main points of your essay whilst catching the readers attention and making them interested in what it is you have to say. The first sentence should talk about the text you are analysing and its relation to the question. If you know a relevant contextual or critical point that would add to this then here would be a good place to incorporate this. Now you should talk about the main areas of your essay and break down the main argument of each paragraph.In your conclusion it's important to bring your analysis back to the question, explaining how you've answered it through your essay. If you can it's also good to add a slight twist in your last lines, leaving a really interesting point about the text to the end. This should relate to your overall argument and if you've set up a debate within your main paragraphs it should resolutely conclude which you most strongly agree with and why, based on your evidence, it has the edge.
