What is the difference between conservation and preservation regarding species

Although they both promote sustainability:
Conservation is the human involvement in attempts to protect wildlife. Usually with endangered species where they can be tracked and looked after with human help, to promote their numbers as a species
Preservation, in contrast to conservation, attempts to maintain the wildlife in their present condition areas of the Earth that are so far untouched by humans
