There are several steps which you can take to really improve your written and even spoken French. Here are my top three! Firstly, remember to include a range of tenses in your work- try and use three tenses to show your understanding of the language- if you just use the present tense throughout you will get a significantly lower mark! In addition, try and use different forms of the verbs that you’re using. For example- don’t just use ‘je’! Try and include other forms such as ‘we’ and ‘they’ as this demonstrates a higher understanding of grammar.Secondly, try and include interesting opinion phrases such as ‘en ce qui me concerne’ (as far as I’m concerned) and ‘il me semble que’ (it seems to me that)- these can really make you sound more sophisticated. Furthermore, adding linking words into your work such as ‘cependant’ (however) can also improve the quality of your work as it allows sentences to flow more clearly and creates more complex sentences.Lastly, remember to proofread your work! This is a simple piece of advice but it really does make a difference!
