How can I evaluate studies and theories successfully?

Firstly, the structure of each point you make should follow the Point, Evidence, Explanation format (PEE). If you structure each new point/paragraph in this way you can achieve the highest level. Secondly when evaluating theories, using SCOUT will help you think of all the points needed to make a good evaluation. SCOUT stands for: Supporting evidence, Conflicting evidence, Opposing theories, Usefulness and Testability. By giving a different point under all these subtitles whilst using the PEE structure it will allow you to write a high level evaluation. Furthermore, when evaluating psychological studies, using GRAVE will allow you to think of different points to evaluate different aspects of the study. GRAVE stands for: Generalisability, Reliability, Applicability, Validity and Ethics. By making points and giving evidence using the PEE structure, this will allow you to evaluate the study in terms of methodology, applicability and ethics.
