How should I plan an answer to a History essay question?

There are several important points to remember when planning an essay:Your essay should be balanced, but not 50/50 as this suggests that you're undecided as to what your argument is. Aim for around a 60/40 balance in your planning. I would suggest planning in a grid, with each paragraph being a different square. Instead of laying out your planning as 'for' and 'against' sections, try to use labels that refer directly to the question. Put the specific pieces of evidence that you want to use in each paragraph in the boxes and write your judgement at the top of your planning. It is key that your judgement is clear throughout your essay, made sure it is clear to you in your planning therefore.
