What is injection moulding?

Injection moulding is a forming process in which plastic products can be created. There are 4 key stages involved in the process:The first stage is feeding plastic granules into a hopper which will keep them until they are needed. The second stage is when the heater is turned on and a screw begins to turn. The third stage begins once the heater has reached the correct melting temperature of the plastic being used. A motor turns the screw which pushes the plastic granules through the heater. This melts the granules and turns the plastic into a liquid form. The final stage is the forming process. This is where the liquid is forced into a mould and is then cooled. The mould can then be opened to remove the finished product.
