How do I use the informal future tense in Spanish?

There are two different ways of forming the future tense in Spanish: the informal future tense and the simple future tense. The informal future is a way of saying what you are going to do and therefore, it is formed from the relevant conjugation of the verb "ir" (to go) + a + the infinitive of the verb you are going to do. The conjugations of "ir" are as follows:I -> Voy You (singular) -> Vas He/she/it -> Va We -> Vamos You (plural) -> Vais They -> Van eg. I am going to cook tomorrow would translate as Mañana, voy a cocinar. Are you going to sing on Tuesday? would translate as Vas a cantar el martes? With the informal future tense you can talk about things that are a lot further away, but you're still planning on doing, for example "I am going to go to university next year" or "He is going to get married" and it has the benefit of being a lot simple to form than the simple future tense!
