Outline the functions of axial and appendicular skeletons

The appendicular skeleton provides attachment for muscles which allows for and supports movement. An example of a bone in the appendicular skeleton is the femur.
The main function of bones in the axial skeleton is to provide protection for vital organs such as the heart and brain. Bones in the axial skeleton include the skull, vertebral column and ribcage.
