People make so many mistakes in personal statements. Looking back at mine, I can pick holes in the one that I submitted 4 years ago. Having said that, I got at least as far as the interview stage at every medical school that I applied for. The writing of your personal statement can have huge consequences because it's the very first impression that you make, and sets the scene for interview questions later - be prepared to talk at length about anything that you mention!
I'm very used to helping people with these, so I know what makes a good personal statement. I've had very positive feedback from all the students that I've helped and so far (touch wood) all of them are now at medical school. I'm more than happy to share my personal statement that got me a place at Cambridge with any tutee.
