Explain the Lorenz force

The force exerted on a charged particle q moving with a velocity v through an electric and magnetic field, E and B respectively. F=qE+qvxB. We usually care mostly about the magnetic part. It is also worth noting that as expressed by the cross product the Lorenz Force will be perpendicular to both velocity and magnetic field hence explaining the right hand rule.
