Photosynthesis is the process that allows plant cells to convert light energy (from the sun rays) into chemical energy. This energy is biologically useable to the plant, and essential to it's survival.
The reaction occurs in the thylakoïdes of the chloroplastes and requires a light source such as the sun (for the light energy),water as well as carbon dioxide, and produces; glycerol as well as O2.For this reason, we can write the general equation of the photosynthesis process as:
6 [CO2] + 6[H2O] -------> [C6H12O6] (glycerol) + 6[O2]
the process itself has 2 stages: -The light phase-The dark phase (also known as the Calvin cycle)
