Make y the subject of the formula: p = √x+y/5

P is currently the subject of the formula, y needs to be isolated. To do so first we need to get rid of the square root on the right side of the formula. Opposite to square root is square, so if we square both sides:p2 = x + y / 5Then we want to isolate the x + y, so times both sides by 5 to multiply out the 5 on the right hand side.5 x p2 = x + y 5p2 = X + yFinally we want to subtract the x, so that only y remains on the right side of the equation leaving:5p2-x = yTherefore y is isolated and is therefore the subject of the formula: y = 5p2 - x
