What is Le Chatelier's principle and why is it important?

Le Chatelier's principle states, that when a system that is in equilibrium is subject to a change of concentration, volume, pressure or temperature, the equilibrium will shift to counteract this change. This is important because it can be used to predict the effects of changing a system at equilibrium which can be used to improve industry profits (e.g. haber process)
