How should an Oxbridge personal statement be different from others?

Whilst you will send the same personal statement to all the universities you apply for, if you are applying to Oxford or Cambridge the personal statement you submit may be a bit different to your peers. There isn't really much time to talk about your extra curricular activities in the same way others might. Instead almost all of what you talk about should be related to what you want to study or demonstrate that you have gained good skills that will hep you on the course. Oxbridge personal statements also tend to look at readings more than others, it is sometimes helpful to read around the subject then base sections of your personal statement on this. You may wish to talk about the insights it has given you or how it has sparked a particular interest in an area of what you want to study.
