Describe the lytic pathway of a virus.

The lytic cycle is one of the two cycles of viral reproduction in host cells.
Viruses cannot replicate outside a host, therefore virus binds to host cells. Adsorption and penetration occurs (process through which virus inserts genetic material (DNA/RNA) into the host cell. Cellular machinery are used to replicate viral gene and produce more viral genes and proteins.
The components assemble into new viral particles. The newly formed viruses can exit the cell either via the host cell membrane or lysis of the host cell. These viruses can further undergo reproduction in other host cells, resulting in more virus particles. Thus, can spreading infection.
