What are the top ways to prepare for a Human, Social and Political Science interview at Cambridge?

Human, Social and Political Science (HSPS) is a broad course meaning interviews can go many different ways! Some interviewers will choose to lead the interview with questions surrounding the entrance essay you wrote, or they might reference the essays you had sent in as part of your application process. It is worth knowing these essays well. Other interviewers might not reference these at all and instead lead with their own areas of expertise. When interviewing for HSPS it is therefore imperative to keep an open mind and keep your answers and thoughts flexible. You should aim to respond to the question being asked, and while you are encouraged to have a strong line of argumentation, being too defensive of your answer may appear to be a weakness. Allow yourself to be lead by the interviewer, to be challenged by their critiques, and to develop your answers in line with their questions. It is worth being up to date with current political and social affairs and to be able to use what is happening around the world to support your answers!
