Identify and explain three reasons why women are more religious than men

1. Visions of God

Women associate visions of god with love, comfort and forgiveness which are linked to femininity and family. Women tend to lean more towards people orientation then men and so get more involved. Men, on the other hand, associate God with power.

2. Greater life expectancy

Women live longer than men and are more likely to be widowed. They turn to religion as a source of support and comfort.

3. Nurturing

Women are socialised into traditional femininity which makes them less confrontational, less goal orientated and more cooperative.
