A populist argument for Brexit was that the Westminster Parliament cannot remain sovereign (in control) whilst the UK is a part of the European Union. Do you think this is true? Why/why not?

There is no correct answer to this question, it is designed more to see how the pupil reasons. However, the student should show a common sense and logical analysis of the things that they are already aware of.Answers could include:The view is true - EU membership means that the UK has to comply with EU standards on a number of things ie defective productsThis view is not true - EU membership and Parliamentary Sovereignty co-exist, operating in separate but (occasionally) overlapping spheres.I would also look for the student to ask questions if unsure.
