When are the conditional and future tenses used in French?

The conditional tense is a tense that is linked to the English "would". It expresses a possible result which relies on a condition. An example of this would be "I would have a lie-in everyday, if I didn't have to go to college." ("Je ferais la grasse matinée tous les jours, si je ne devais pas aller au collège.") In this sentence, we can see that there is a condition to this tense, introduced by "si". The future tense is a tense which explains something that is more certain, with no conditions attached. An example of this would be "Since I don't have lessons tomorrow, I'll have a lie-in." ("Puisque je n'ai pas de leçons demain, je ferai la grasse matinée.") In this sentence, the fact that the speaker will have a lie-in the next day is certain, so they use the future tense which is more certain.
