How to integrate lnX?

Firstly I would ask the student what different ways of integration do we know so far? After eliminating each possibility, such as the answer is not XlnX, as this differentiates via product rule, the student will attempt intégration by parts. Either with assistance or by themselves the student will realise that u= lnX and du/dx= 1, then the rest is followed by a normal integrating by parts question. This question not only introduces integrating by parts, but also introduces the possibility of having one of the parts = to 1.

A curve has equation y=x^2 + (3k - 4)x + 13 and a line has equation y = 2x + k, where k is constant. Show that the x-coordinate of any point of intersection of the line and curve satisfies the equation: x^2 + 3(k - 2)x + 13 - k = 0

Integrate ln(x)/(x^3)

2(x^2)y + 2x + 4y – cos (PI*y) = 17. Find dy/dx using implicit differentiation.

Differentiate the following: 4x^3 + sin(x^2)
