Describe how selective breeding could be used to improve the volume of milk produced by cows.

Calculating the milk yield of mother cows and their offspring can indicate which animals have good breeding genetics. Bulls also play an important role in generating a good milk yield, and their offsprings milk yield can be an indication of this. Cows with high milk yield, and offspring with high milk yield can be mated to increase the chances of a good milk volume. Continuing this through generations using these methods can ensure an increase of the volume of milk produced by cows.
