How do I make my personal statement effective?

Firstly, choose experience which is relevant and truly demonstrates the particular skill which you will be writing about. Ensure your experience is recent as well as something which you have shown commitment and dedication to. For example, if you want to illustrate that you can communicate well by talking about your volunteering, make sure to say how long you volunteered for, and how the experience you gained there developed your skills in communicating well with others, by giving a specific example. Remember to link this back to your chosen skill.
