“ Religious people should keep their views about medical ethics to themselves.” discuss.

Society in general, consists of a variation of beliefs on medical ethics. Medical ethics is an area which is stated to be an extremely controversial area within ethics itself. While considering a political approach towards ethics in general, it is important to overlook everyone’s opinion towards the matter.  In a democracy, it is vital to listen to everyone’s views and keep even religious concepts in mind before making a decision to enforce any laws. If a religious person is not heard and a law on medical ethics is enforced that they may disagree with, this may lead to seriated outbreaks of rebellious events. Also religious people may provide moral guidance. Moral guidance is necessary for a society. Also people may believe that moral guidance Is lacking and religious views and opinions are nessesary.Christians believe that all life is god given. The quote that proves that god gave rise to all human lives is the quote from the bible in Psalm 139:13-16 ; “You created every part of me.” This quote is interpreted from all Christians to be evidence in gods existence. As Christians see life as god given, they are obligated to give there views on many medical procedures that have a religious and moral aspect.  Issues such as Euthanasia, abortion and fertility treatment all have to be considered when interpreting the quote from the bible “all life is sacred”. This quote suggests that Christians believe in the concept of pro-life. This concept of pro life, however may lead Christians to be against euthanasia. This may create law enforcements to ban euthanasia in which case a person suffering from a life threatening terminal condition will not be able to proceed a ‘gentle, easy” death. In a case like this, non religious people who are pro euthanasia, may criticize the views of a religious person and this may lead one to believe that religious people should keep their views on medical ethics to themselves. Some doctors or scientists may say that Religious people should not be obligated to an opinion when it comes to medical ethics because they are not properly trained and may not be able to recognize the importance of medical procedures such as fertility treatments. Some Christians are fully against fertility treatment. This is due to the fact they believe in “natural law”. This law provides evidence that Christians don't agree with most medical procedures as they are mostly all mechanical and do not occur naturally. This may be a problem for infertile woman/men as they wont be able to reproduce without fertility treatment. Therefore doctors and infertile people may believe in the statement that religious people should keep their views on medical ethics to themselves also. In conclusion, I believe that democratically while interpreting medical ethics, for a society to properly function, it is necessary to obtain moral guidance from religious people as well as the scientific knowledge of professionally trained paramedics, scientist and doctors. However I do believe that some religious people may have absolute views towards some issues where circumstances may not allow a person to follow religious guiding’s. In this case I do not believe the voice of a religious person should be completely blocked. I think they should be aloud to speak their opinion but should also take into account the extreme situations of some people which may lead them to go against some religious teachings.
