What is the definition of osmosis?

There are some key components which define osmosis in relation to simple diffusion. Osmosis is the movement of specifically water. In addition, it occurs through water channels (aquaporins). Osmosis occurs down a water potential gradient. It's also important to mention that osmosis is passive, as this is often a point of mark schemes
