What is the difference between a gene and a chromosome?

DNA is a long list of instructions which everyone has inside the nucleus of each of their cells. A section of DNA that has instructions to make a certain protein is called a gene. Now because DNA is so long and windy, and there is so much of it- our cells store it in chromosomes. A chromosome is just a chunk of DNA when it is all coiled up- so it is easier for the cell to store/move around. So since chromosomes are chunks of DNA-one chromosome may contain many genes
