How Should I Structure My Essay to Gain the Most Marks? Section A Shakespeare

The marks for this essay are divided up so that there are two skills, which are weighted the most heavily: A01 and A02 are both worth 12 marks, A03 is 6 marks, and A04 is 4 marks. From this you can see that really you need to focus on A01 and A02 or simply showing: how well you understand the text and how well you can analyse the text. Make sure that each point you make has the evidence from the text to support and that your explanation of the evidence is clear, obvious, and sensible. A01 is about understanding the text, so try not to just pluck something out of the air as an interpretation, really think about what it is about that sentence or word that genuinely indicates a message from the author. A nice way to link in A03 is to simply add it to some of your A02 points, if you're making a point about a character who maybe would've been discriminated against at the time, try and find a way to link that in with whatever language analysis you're doing. For example, if you study Macbeth and you're discussing Lady Macbeth and her power you could discuss how women were treated and though of at the time.
