What are the differences between mitosis and meiosis?

Both are forms of cell division Mitosis"Normal" cell division- how cells increase in number 1 "parent" cell produces 2 "daughter" cells All the cells involved are genetically identical MeiosisOnly used to make SEX CELLS (e.g. sperm cells or ova) 1 "parent" cell produces 4 daughter cells The cells produced are haploid- they have half the number of chromosomes than the "parent" cell
