Using the substitution method, solve the following simultaneous equations 2y+3x=14 and 6x-y=8

Equation 1: 2y+3x=14 Equation 2: 6x-y=8 Rearrange Equation 2: y=6x-8 therefore 2y=12x-16 Substituting the rearranged equation 2 into equation 1: 12x-16+3x=14 15x-16=14 15x=30 x=2 Substituting x into equation 2: 6(2)-y=8 12-y=8 y=12-8 y=4 and check at the end to make sure!
