Answer must be balanced. (marks split into 2K, 4AP, 6AN, 8EV) K- Definitions (i.e MNC )AP- real world -joint ventures in Asia (foreign companies not allowed to own property) -pressure groups (Primark and factory collapse) -gov action (BP fined for Oil Spill- biggest fine in USA history of $18.7bn)AN- pressure groups ->negative publicity->business change behaviour -social media ->viral, quick response for campaigns->MNC's more easily exposed -brand image affected -> lower sales-> MNCs change ---link to primark -gov action can affect how MNCs act in the future -AN in context: boycotts can reduce sales of MNCs which causes MNCs to change. e.g. Nestle -Baby milk action even until today-Nestle- Free Week from 5-11th Nov 2018. EV- not all MNCs affected by pressure groups i.e. Nestle (sales still high) -gov influence depends on size of company (USA high power but small countries may be dependent upon MNC for jobs etc) -in some markets pressure groups may not be as effective as western societies as they are not as strong -MNCs may invest in campaigns which are good for society in order to hide their other flaws i.e. Nike under paying workers yet they have a "girl effect" campaign.
