The present of the subjunctive form is a relatively simple form to master in Spanish. To talk about feelings of doubt, desire, emotion, necessity, or uncertainty we use the present of the subjunctive in Spanish as opposed to the present of the indicative which we use to talk about less subjective things. To conjugate a verb in the present of the subjunctive you have to start by remembering how the verb is conjugated in the present of the indicative form using the first person or "yo". This is due to the fact that the stem of the verb always derives from that of the first person in the present indicative. For example; the verb "hacer" or "to do" is conjugated as "hago" in the first person of the present indicative; therefore, to get the stem for the present of the subjunctive we simply minus the "o" which makes it "hag-" our stem.To acquire the ending and thus the full word we just learn a very simple rule. In Spanish the rule for the subjunctive has to do with the original verbs ending and states that words that end in -AR change to an E and words that end in -ER and IR end in an A. It is then as simple as learning the subjunctive endings for both endings (-e,-es,-e...) or (-a, -as, a...) and forming your word! Making "hacer" in the present of the subjunctive "haga".
