Everything you do in English should be carried out in stages to ensure that you've done it all thoroughly. First, when analysing an image, you need to look at the colours. Dark colours tend to represent mourning or at least create a depressive mood. On the other hand, bright colours represent pleasantness. A contrast between light and dark colours msy represent confusion or tension between two sides.Secondly, levels need to be analysed. For example, if there are two people in an image and one is higher or more in central view than the other, the illustrator/photographer is likely trying ot convey that the central person is superior or more powerful than the other.Thirdly, You need to look at facial expressions of the characters in the image and the positions between them, If two characters are standing closely together, with smiles on their facces, they could have a good relationship.Whereas, two characters standing closely with frowns on their faces are unlikely to be in love. Finally, You must look at the background of the image; this is likely to give the audience insight into the scene of the story. Through analysis of the weather, buildings or simple objects in the background of the image; you will be able to find the time and place that the image was set.You must always analyse an image with the question in mind "what is the creator of this image trying to convey?". Every image that you will analyse in English will give insight to a story, your aim in a task like this is to write about how the illustrator/photographer goes about telling this story.
