Describe what is meant by a chronic disease, and give an example.

A long-term health problem that requires ongoing management over a period of decades or years. It often cannot currently be cured, nor does it disappear, but is managed with medication or other therapies. Examples include: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, kidney failure and Parkinson's disease.
