Describe how selective breeding could be used to improve the quality of milk produced by cows (4 marks)

Farmers could keep information on their cows such as the milk yield of a bull's mother and daughters in order to select ideal bulls as male parents. These bulls would then be allowed to mate with (unrelated) female cows with high milk yields in order to produce daughters with excellent milk yields. This process is repeated generation over generation to gradually improve milk yield.
